This is not a full case study. Just UI designs.
About the designs
Back in 2017 I've created a TV app design for one of the challenges from Daily UI. I was happy with it back then, and I still like it, but it's outdated. I loved the concept and the idea of the design I've made back then, so I decided to do a redesign in a couple of hours. Just to challenge myself and try to create the same idea in a new style.
Old version (2017)
So this is the old design I've created back in 2017. I couldn't even find the source file anymore, that's how old it is!
New version (2022)
And this is the new version. I've made multiple variants with rounded and more squared corners on the buttons, just to experiment and show the difference.
Old vs New
Comparison of both versions, with the old version on top and the new version at the bottom.
Menu
Small gimmick I've put in the menu icon is the projector-idea. Back in the days (nowadays as well though) movies were projected on screens. This idea is what I've tried to mimic in the icon.
Grid
The design needs to be aligned of course.
Designs
Mockups of some of the screens. The full screens are shown below the mockups.
Screens
Theme 1
The original one with the same shot from back in 2017.
Theme 2
Mayan MC themed one, the sequel of the Sons of Anarchy.
Theme 3
Back to Sons of Anarchy with a different banner.
Theme 4
Back to the Mayans, but with a vintage cartoon style banner and some outlined components to ensure contrast and the clickable effect.
Theme 5
And back to Sons of Anarchy again, with a really dark shot to see how everything works.
